Gwanghoegun’s Toyoichi Sushi in Fukuoka: Per-Piece Prices, Tax and the Bayside Branch

Is Toyoichi's ¥120 sushi an all-you-can-eat deal? No: the recorded price is per piece, before tax. Gwanghoegun's Fukuoka video visits Hakata Toyoichi at Bayside Place Hakata, where customers choose individual pieces and staff count them at checkout. This guide separates that price system from his tasting impressions and from the similarly named Nagahama restaurant.

Which Toyoichi appears in the video?

The relevant location is Building B, first floor, Bayside Place Hakata, near the harbour. The video also includes sushi bought at a Lopia supermarket and eaten at his accommodation. Those supermarket purchases are a separate part of the trip, not Toyoichi's menu.

Check the branch when saving directions. A similar restaurant name alone is not enough to ensure you are travelling to the counter shown in the footage.

Count pieces, then allow for tax and extras

The Bayside official restaurant page checked on October 20, 2026 also listed ¥120 per sushi piece, excluding tax. Ten pieces therefore come to ¥1,200 before tax, fifteen to ¥1,800, and twenty to ¥2,400. These are simple examples using the recorded unit price, not tax-inclusive meal totals.

Drinks and other dishes add to the bill. Check the current display for the final dine-in or takeaway amount. The price is neither a whole-plate rate nor a buffet admission fee, so taking another piece increases the amount to be paid.

How did ordering work?

In the video, he selected sushi from the display, took the container to the cashier and paid after staff counted the pieces. He used takeaway packaging and ate at tables in front of the shop. The venue offered both dining and takeaway.

The display included tuna, eel and sea-urchin gunkan among the choices, and staff replenished empty trays. That footage does not promise that every topping will be available when you visit. The official notice warned that Sunday and public-holiday service could end early when ingredients ran out because the market was closed.

Soy sauce and ginger were each shown at ¥3 in the footage, while wasabi was free. Those small extra charges were not independently reconfirmed in the later official information, so use the current checkout notice rather than treating the old amounts as guaranteed.

What did Gwanghoegun like?

He contrasted the sushi with the larger Lopia pieces he had eaten earlier. At Toyoichi, he found the size comfortable to put in his mouth and chew, which made trying several varieties appealing to him.

He also said the pieces he ate did not taste fishy or old, mentioning that he enjoyed the mackerel sushi without an unpleasant fishy taste. Those are impressions from his particular meal. They are not a blanket guarantee about the condition of every fish on every day, and this article is not our own tasting review.

Wednesday matters for a November 4 visit

The recorded official schedule lists a regular closure on weekday Wednesdays, with possible adjustments around public holidays. November 4, 2026 is a Wednesday, so do not plan a same-day trip based solely on the article's publication date. Check the restaurant's current notice before travelling.

The October 20 schedule showed Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11:00–20:30; Friday 11:00–21:30; Saturday 10:30–21:30; and Sunday 10:30–19:30. Last orders were listed as thirty minutes before closing.

The address is 13-6 Chikkohonmachi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka, Bayside Place Hakata Building B, 1F, with telephone +81-92-262-2425. The official information listed card/electronic payments, child chairs and parking discounts, but the discount's duration and purchase conditions should be checked separately.
