Kim Sawon’s Midong Sikdang in Seoul: How the Chef-Selected Bar Snacks Work

미동식당 is an option for a small drinking party, not a fixed-price dinner without drinks. Its chef-selected snacks were listed at ₩10,000 per person, with one alcoholic drink required per person. The shop rules also excluded reservations and parties of four or more.
This K-Star Check is based on Kim Sawon’s video and shop information checked on Oct 20 2026, not a personal visit. The prices and operating rules are dated records, not confirmation of present-day conditions.

Understand the order before choosing
Matgim-anju means snacks left to the proprietor’s selection; anju are dishes eaten with alcohol. Here, the selection changes daily, so the video illustrates one evening’s serving rather than a permanent three-dish menu.
The Naver menu updated and checked on Oct 20 2026 listed matgim-anju at ₩10,000 per person. For two diners, that meant ₩20,000 for snacks, plus the drinks each person had to order.
Separate aged-sashimi listings were ₩40,000 for two and ₩60,000 for three to four. However, the explicit admission rule barred groups of four or more: the menu’s portion label should not be read as permission for four guests to enter.
What appeared in Kim Sawon’s video?
Kim Sawon visited this small izakaya—a Japanese-style drinking spot—on the ground floor of Seosomun Apartments after eating elsewhere. He liked its atmosphere, which reminded him of a Japanese alleyway bar, and its inexpensive snack selection.
For the two diners, the filmed sequence was braised radish and egg, pork-and-potato braise, then assorted sashimi. These were shared dishes, not three individual plates for every person.
Kim Sawon described the radish as very tender and appropriately seasoned. The egg came with a little mustard, and he considered the opening dish a good accompaniment to the first drink.
He particularly praised the aroma and salty seasoning of the pork-and-potato braise. He said the meat quantity was generous for two and that eating the pork and potatoes with the sauce made him want rice.
The final plate contained three kinds of sashimi, whose chewy aged texture he enjoyed. The image here shows that shared plate from the snack selection, not the separately priced ₩40,000 sashimi order.

Plan a small weekday visit
The dated listing placed 미동식당 at 서울 서대문구 충정로6길 59, 서소문아파트 1층 6호, about 293 meters from Seodaemun Station Exit 7. Telephone: 02-313-0958.
Listed opening hours were Monday–Friday, 17:15–23:00, with Saturday and Sunday closures. Reservations, takeaway and parking were unavailable, and the venue was a no-kids zone.
Check the party-size and alcohol conditions before building an evening around it. If a particular braise or fish is essential to your plans, ask about availability rather than expecting the filmed selection.
FAQs
Can I order only the ₩10,000 snacks without alcohol?
The dated shop rules required one alcoholic drink per person with that order.
Will the same sashimi plate always be included?
No. The chef-selected snacks change daily; the video documents only what those two diners received.
